Top 5 Rising Companies To Buy Right Now

So far, 2013 has not been kind to Kodiak Oil & Gas. The company's shares are down 15% year to date. What is surprising, though, is that this kind of performance would suggest troubling results, which isn't necessarily the case for Kodiak. Kodiak is still a young company by energy industry standards, but while there are certainly some impressive numbers from the company, there are still some issues that may have investors shying away. In this video, Fool.com contributor Tyler Crowe walks through some of the issues that may have investors shying away from this company and what the future may hold for this Bakken-centric producer.

Kodiak Oil & Gas is a dynamic growth story -- it offers great opportunities, but with those opportunities come great risks. Before you hitch your horse to this carriage, let us help you with your due diligence. Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By John Udovich]

Small cap robotic stock Adept Technology (NASDAQ: ADEP) has put in a very good performance this month verses its immediate peeriRobot Corporation (NASDAQ: IRBT) as well as against medical robotic stocks like MAKO Surgical (NASDAQ: MAKO), Accuray Incorporated (NASDAQ: ARAY) and Hansen Medical, Inc (NASDAQ: HNSN). I should also mention that we have recently added Adept Technology to our SmallCap Network Elite Opportunity (SCN EO) portfolio (we are up 9% since last week) because we feel robotics is an improving sector as companies aim to reduce overhead and improve efficiencies through machine to machine (M2M) automation.

  • [By Katie Spence]

Further, Atlas isn't the only robot available for disaster or wartime use. iRobot (NASDAQ: IRBT  ) makes FirstLook, a robot the military can use for situational awareness. Northrop Grumman's (NYSE: NOC  ) Remotec division makes Titus, a next-gen ANDROS unmanned ground vehicle, or UGV, useful to first responders and the military. And in 2007, iRobot teamed up with Boeing (NYSE: BA  ) to develop a next-gen, small UGV called SUGV Early, that is supposed to replace iRobot's PackBot, which is used to safely disarm improvised explosive devices.

  • [By Steve Symington]

As if iRobot's (NASDAQ: IRBT  ) strong first quarter results weren't enough, shares of the robot makerrose more than 3% yesterday and touched a new 52-week high after the companyannounced the first official adopters of its RP-VITA medical telepresence robots.

  • [By Steve Symington]

And therein lies the bad news for comparatively small iRobot (NASDAQ: IRBT  ) ; when Roberts says they're looking forward to expanding Northrop's CUTLASS into "international markets," you can bet he's got every single one of iRobot's existing customers in his sights.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Mike Arnold]

Shares of French telecommunications provider Orange (ORAN) ("Orange" or "the company") have rallied to the tune of 51% since hitting fresh multi-year lows in July 2013. While it's hard to recommend shares that have run so far, so quick, it is my opinion that Orange is still presenting investors a compelling asymmetric risk/reward situation. One way to limit risk is to set limit orders to pick up shares on any pullback caused by the shenanigans going on inside the Beltway.

  • [By Sean Williams]

    This week's loser
The laggard this week was foreign telecommunications provider Orange (NYSE: ORAN  ) (formerly France Telecom), which dipped 4.2% on the week. Although no company-specific news set off the pessimism, regional worries out of Portugal that austerity measures may not stick sent ripples of fear throughout Europe, where the heart of Orange's revenue stream is located. I purchased Orange in my own portfolio late last year on the high prospects for its emerging market growth coupled with steady European cash flow. While I certainly haven't liked seeing its dividend get cut by more than 40%, and feel more hiccups may be on the way, I see it as an incredible cash cow at these levels, and am still considering adding to my position.

Adams Golf (ADGF) was a net-net. It got bought out by Adidas. By the way, it not the only net-net to get bought out this year. Swank (SNKI) was also a net-net that looks like it going to be bought out. Last I heard, they received an alternative proposal during their o shopperiod and haven acted on it. Screw-in Hydraulic Cartridge Valves

The Company screw-in hydraulic cartridge valves are offered in five size ranges and include both electrically actuated and non-electrically actuated products. The floating construction introduced by the Company results in a self alignment characteristic.

Standard Manifolds

A manifold is a solid block of metal, usually aluminum or ductile iron, which is machined to create threaded cavities and channels into which screw-in cartridge valves can be installed and through which the hydraulic fluid flows. The Company range of standard mani! folds enables the customers to integrate its screw-in cartridge valves into their machinery and equipment.

Integrated Packages

An integrated package consists of multiple cartridges assembled into a custom designed manifold for a specific customer to provide the specific operating characteristics of a customer circuit. The Company screw-in cartridge valves translate to integrated packages designed by the Company and result in products that are smaller in size. Due to the self-alignment characteristic, the Company integrated packages do not require testing once assembled.

Electronic Controllers

HCT designs and manufactures electronic controllers, which manage the function of electrically actuated valves. HCT products range from one valve, manually adjusted controllers to fully integrated hydraulic control systems managing multiple hydraulic valves, as well as other input and output products, such as joysticks and displays.
